The long version

The Vaporfly has always been the shoe for runners who want race-day speed without the Alphafly's learning curve, and the 4 trims weight everywhere it can find it — a lighter engineered mesh upper, a thinner outsole and a slightly reduced ZoomX midsole that somehow returns more energy than before. A steeper, higher-angle carbon Flyplate pairs with a lower 6mm drop for a quicker, more propulsive turnover. It's less shoe than the Alphafly and, for most distances between 10K and the marathon, the better choice for it.
